Hands down, Rick Ross is making moves in the game that haven't been done since Master P. P was a successful rapper but better businessman. Birdman is only a good businessman not a rapper, he's just a game spitter. 50 Cent is a great businessman but his rap skills has faded away throughout the last couple of years. Jay-Z is a business man and he just so happens to be a pretty good rapper. Dame Dash & Biggs should be given lots of gratitude for what took place over @ Rocafella Records but since this is focusing upon the Rapper/Businessman then Jigga man will be the vocal point here.
Rocafella, Shady/Aftermath, Cash Money, No Limit, Murder Inc, Derty Ent, Death Row, Bad Boy just to name a few all made an impact and blueprint that many individuals look to for guidance. Rick Ross has admitted that he watched Birdman, Master P, Jay-Z & Puff all at the height of running their empires, now, Rozay is becoming one of those guys but he's doing it differently. More like how Jigga did it, getting Wale, Meek Mill, Stalley & Omarion to be more of a household name seems to be his motive.
The key to having a successful label is making sure each of the artist can stand on their on two. Lets take a look for a second...
Wale is on a wonderful run, it wasn't all peaches n cream for him, as in most cases, you'll never be a winner until you can serve failure on a platter. Wale's in the kitchen cooking right now for all those that counted him out, as Peedi Crack said, Yeaaah Wale!
Meek Mill's been through his trials & tribulations, he's learned from them, simply how he has responded to the opportunities that have come his way. His first mixtape Dreamchasers kicked open the door, House Party started the riot, I'm A Boss got the club shut down and now that his mixtape Dreamchasers 2 was downloaded about 3 million times, Dreams & Nightmares will be one of the most anticipated albums in 2012.
Stalley can rap. He's different because he doesn't let lights, diamonds, women and smoke catch him up. He released some heat prior to the release of his first mixtape under Maybach Music, Savage Journey to the American Dream. He waited patiently enough while his situation & lane opened up.
Omarion aka Maybach O probably has the most to prove, when a talented person has something to prove, while being apart of a better team, stand clear ladies & gentlemen.
